Preferred Pronoun?
She/Her
Why did you choose to enter this work?
This project is my proudest to date so I wanted to share it with the world!
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
The process. The Bloomsbury Group are an endless source of inspiration - it was a dream brief for me and a joy to work on throughout. I'm still in love with the colour palette too.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
It's an honour to be nominated alongside an inspiring community of artists, and share my work to a wider platform.
Where do you usually work?
I work from my humble home studio, distracted by local pigeons at the window. For initial sketching and general off-screen musing I will be more flexible in where I work (but end up sat on a floor.)
How long did it take to complete your project?
From conception to delivery, the overall project spanned 6 months including the exhibition design and running community workshops. The central mural was painted at the gallery across 5 days.
What is your dream commission?
My childhood dream was to be a children's book illustrator. Otherwise, anything related to transforming surfaces and places with pattern.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Non-human things. Tiles, patterns, florals, animals.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Keep the creativity alive! Seek out inspiration, stay playful, and make time for personal projects to keep the passion and you-ness in your work. People feel that.
What are your plans for the future?
I'd like to make time for self-initiated projects and develop new craft skills to experiment with.
