Preferred Pronoun?
She/Her
Why did you choose to enter this work?
I loved working on this project, it was a perfect brief for me and it was so nice to see my artwork used all over a 3D object in an unusual way.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
The pop-up aspect of it. I was always fascinated as a kid by little pop-up theatre books and paper craft and illustrating for this was the closest I've got to that in my career to date.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
It's such an honour! There are so many wonderful and varied entries, I'm proud to be included. Being shortlisted is a confidence boost and I think all of us illustrators need that from time to time!
Where do you usually work?
I work in a lovely shared studio space in Bristol, full of talented illustrators and designers. I feel really lucky to be a part of that community.
How long did it take to complete your project?
From brief to final artwork was around a month. Alongside the chocolate box I also adapted my artwork to wrap around a rotating musical biscuit tin.
What is your dream commission?
I always liked the idea of illustrating an advent calendar, and with the 24 compartments within the chocolate box, each with a small image, this commission got pretty close.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Landscapes - preferably with big skies and some sort of water.
What are your plans for the future?
To continue to attempt to make a living out of freelance illustration!
