2024 | Longlist + Shortlist | Book Covers

Preferred Pronoun?
she / her

Why did you choose to enter this work?
Project 1: I will buy the book without hesitation if I see its cover like this in bookstore. Project 2: I hope my work can inspire and provide insight into contemporary social issues.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
Project 1: The composition and the retro color palette that show my passion for ancient Greek. Project 2: The unique and interesting way to depict the current events.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
It’s a great encouragement and recognition that validates the decision that I changed my career from finance management to art.

Where do you usually work?
I usually work at home, a cozy desk with a bulletin board which can help me to capture the ideas and insights that flash into my mind.

How long did it take to complete your project?
I spent three days on the project.

What is your dream commission?
I aspire to work in editorial illustration, and I also love the book covers design and product and packaging design.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
I like to draw with a variety of themes, such as mental health, lifestyle, travel, science, economic policies and so on. I hope my style can be as widely applicable to various themes as possible.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Listen to your heart, and be honest to yourself. You can find everything in creation, even if that work is not perfect. And of course this is what I always say to my self.

What are your plans for the future?
To build my client base and get more opportunity to explore the creativity and possibility in editorial, book covers and product and packaging design.
