- Why did you create this work?
I had to portray the both tormented, sensible and passioned writer who is said to always have wanted to be a poet but ended becoming famous by his novels. I had to use yellow as a general tone, and not depict him smoking, as he often was, so I managed to introduce the smoke of his cigarette in the shadow, adding to his own, creating a more mysterious atmosphere and multiple layers of understanding - How were your illustrations used?
The illustration was used on the front and back cover, as well as on the spine of the book. - What materials and techniques did you use?
I painted in acrylics on canvas textured paper, added some oil pastels for the smoke and edited it digitally on photoshop. - Was this project commissioned?
