Why did you choose to enter this work?
I was sketching on a blank coffee pouch. Suddenly, I had an idea about turning it into a coffee shop with a door. Everyone loves the idea which won many important packaging awards in the world!
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
This is not just a 'beautiful' illustration; it actually transforms the shape and imparts significance to it. An ordinary coffee pouch turns into a coffee shop with coffee lovers.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
It's so exciting to be part of the talented illustrators in the world. Last year, I was longlisted. I hope to reach the glory this year!
Where do you usually work?
I mostly work in my home studio, but sometimes I try working at the beach or in a coffee shop. However, I find that I prefer working with a large screen instead of using a laptop :)
How long did it take to complete your project?
After I came up with the idea, everything else went smoothly. It took me one week to complete.
What is your dream commission?
Three years ago, I received an email from Apple's California office. I created three illustrations and animations for them. My dreams came true! Now I'm waiting for Google ;)
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
I find inspiration in capturing the architectural beauty of buildings and the dynamic energy of cities through my drawings.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Always look for something better than what you have already done, and keep a balance of professionalism and amateur spirit.
What are your plans for the future?
Take more time for myself as I've been working nonstop for nearly 20 years. My back is killing me :)
