Him/his - Why did you create this work?
After having drawn over 500 flower ink drawings for my wife every morning for three years, I thought they could work well as a stop motion short film. The film is called “A flower a day” and it portrays the joy of being in a relationship. It also highlights the importance of daily commitment that a good relationship requires.
- How were your illustrations used?
The flower illustrations were used to create a stop-motion sequence, matched with a well known classical music piece, Chopin’s Minute Waltz. The film has been shown in several film festivals and at the Outernet galleries in central London, as part of a collaboration with WePresent (summer 2023). - What materials and techniques did you use?
The drawings are made using pipettes with pigment ink on watercolour paper. After scanning the drawings, I used Adobe Premiere to sync them with the music. - Was this project commissioned?
