What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
I love the changing of the shadows for each season, particularly winters long shadows that creep across the page.
Where do you usually work?
I tend to work wherever I can find a moment of calm around my two young kids. It’s a juggle, but I carve out creative spaces and times around their schedules.
What is your dream commission?
I would love to illustrate for the National Trust UK, or Heritage England. Or any such similar organisation in other countries.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
I think combining some element of hand drawn art into your work, is really important, particularly with the rise of AI. Whether that’s the initial sketches, or unique textures, some human touch.
What are your plans for the future?
In the future I would love to do children’s books, but I am aware what a mastery they are, to do well, and I want to make sure I am ready.
