Why did you choose to enter this work?
One significant value in my artwork involves deepening my understanding of my cultural roots, and I aspire to share more about Chinese culture with an international audience.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
I played with distorted ratios, reorganizing elements into an elegant composition, to express the fragmentation and multiplicity of cultural heritage.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
I believe this is a fantastic opportunity for me to immerse myself in the vast world of illustration within the industry, especially as a newly graduated talent.
Where do you usually work?
I work digitally using tablets or iPad in my room. I enjoy working on my sketchbooks too!
How long did it take to complete your project?
Two weeks.
What is your dream commission?
I want to work for publishing companies, like magazines, books and covers. Ideally,I would also be interested in trying out different areas, like children books, and editorial, fashion illustration.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
I enjoy drawing plants and organic elements found in nature. Lately, I have been practicing my skills by attempting to draw people without relying on an eraser.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Ask for help when needed and help other illustrators. It's important to be kind, helpful, and trust one's own voice, even amidst the multitude of diverse perspectives from others.
What are your plans for the future?
I am actively pursuing job opportunities within the field of illustration and design. Beyond that, I am also exploring new passions of music and photography.
