Why did you make this work:
"RISE - A Pop History of Asian America from the Nineties to Now" is a book that explores Asian American history through the pop-cultural touchstones and sociopolitical shifts from the 1990s to now and beyond. The illustrations pay homage to Asian American politicians and activists by placing them in the context of iconic paintings from John Trumbull, Emanuel Leutze, and Norman Rockwell.

Biography:
Sojung Kim-McCarthy is a Korean-British illustrator. She studied VisComm at Hong-ik University and Illustration at Arts University Bournemouth. Sojung has won WIA in 2021 with Minari Movie Postcards. She has also been highly commended for both the FAB Prize and the Macmillan Prize, as well as being longlisted for the House of Illustration & Folio Society Book Illustration Competition.
