Why did you make this work:
I came up with an idea for this project from my lockdown experience. Because of the pandemic, most of us including children were required to stay at home. It made me feel all enjoyment has been removed in the beginning. However, I realised we can find pleasure even from trivial things in our life routine, which inspired me to make this project.

How was the illustration used:
These illustrations are part of my picture book.

How did you make this work:
I created these images by combining hand and digital drawing. I drew the black line on paper by hand and scanned it, then added colours on the screen. Although it was constructed with digital skills, a basic theory of the creation is strongly affected by screen-printing and etching which are my technical bases.

Biography:
Yumeno Furukawa is a Japanese illustrator and print-maker. She studied BA and MA in printmaking in Tokyo and completed MA in Children's Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art. Her works containing whimsical, adorable, fluffy creatures and children have been exhibited over 20 times including twice solo exhibition. She is now focusing on telling stories whilst envisioning her unique ideas.
