Un-commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
I set myself a personal project to expand my portfolio with artworks celebrating community, diversity and play. To provide a project framework, I focussed on creating three images, with a limited colour palette and the key themes of food & family, creativity & play and music & learning.

How was the illustration used:
This set was personal work to push my narrative language and showcase my illustration style, for portfolio use.

How did you make this work:
I consulted community worker contacts, from previous projects, who work with a diverse range of people. They provided reference imagery and knowledge on best practice for diversity depiction e.g. cultural dress and wheelchair type. I received feedback and responded accordingly to roughs. I use a lightbox when composing, cutting up parts and re-arranging before scanning in to complete in Photoshop.
