David Dean : The Girl Who Stole An Elephant

Book Covers

Commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
The brief from the client was: "We’re thinking the girl riding the elephant for adventure with jungle foliage around and pretty water behind them/moon/stars. We’d like it to be in colour (no black) but still lovely atmospheric contrast." The book is set in Sri Lanka and needed to reflect that.

How was the illustration used:
Book cover, for a children's book aimed at 10-12 year olds.

How did you make this work:
The illustration was created digitally in Photoshop. This is how I normally create my roughs, with final art being painted in acrylic - however, in this instance, the client liked the digital version so much they wanted to go with that.
