New TalentWhy did you make this work:
I didn't actually have a goal when creating this piece of work. During that time, I have been in a depressed mood for a long time and there were always news and articles about mood disorders on social media platforms. I started to feel that kind of bad vibes have been secretly injected into lives of modern people. To put it in a simple way, I might just feel likee to present our high-pressure life
How was the illustration used: It is a portfolio piece. It depicts a scene on a family breakfast table. The sun has risen and a new day has come, just like any other day. Each member of this family has their own problems, just like any other family in the world.
How did you make this work: Hand-painted line + Ipad. I am familiar with the combination of hand drawing and digital coloring.

Biography:
Yunong Xie is a London based illustrator and toy designer, originally from China. She earned her master degree in Illustration and Visual Media from University of the Arts. Yunong’s inspiration for her work lies in her significant interest in mysterious creatures and subjects, which also served as a catalyst for the launch of her own toy brand MINONO in 2019. Yunong is always exploring new tools, techniques and media approaches. Her practice ranges from illustration, animation, poster, books, package design and fashion print design to create an eclectic yet coherent body of work.
Yunong has participated in a few international exhibitions such as Hong Kong Contemporary Art Show and London Design Week Exhibition, and has also held several personal exhibitions in Asia. Earlier this year, she has also received the New Talent (Student) Gold Metal from IJUNGLE Illustration Awards.
