ProfessionalWhy did you make this work:
The brief focused on the theme of body hair. Through conceptual images I depicted the perspective of women's bodies, whose nature is extirpated like roses by shears, and the ironic obsession with pubic hair removal opposed to the urge to thicken and lengthen the only socially acceptable hair, the eyelashes.
What materials and techniques did you use?:
Scanned items, digital drawing in photoshop
How were your illustrations used: The two illustrations were used as full pages opening and closing of the issue. Smack! magazine approaches gender and identity related topics from an intersectional perspective, through illustration, comics, and in-depth articles.
