Why did you create this work?
I’m a big fan of Jo Nesbo’s crime novels. I designed books covers for 3 of my favorite books from the Harry Hole series. I try to emphasize the suspenseful and criminal atmosphere and keep the design in line with the content and title. Each cover is a horizontal single image, with a uniform ratio of black and white on the spine.
How were your illustrations used?
They’re applied to book covers or sleeves for physical publications.
What materials and techniques did you use?
I drew it in procreate. And I digitally applied some texture that I made and scanned to my drawing. I paint these textures with brushes and ink.

Biography
Chenyu Wang is an illustrator and a designer who was born and raised in Chongqing, China, and is now living in Syracuse, New York. She is an observer and an imaginer. She enjoys showing her sense of humor and storytelling in her work. She specializes in the use of symbols and metaphors to express abstract concepts in a light and delicate way.
