  • Why did you create this work?
This book cover was created for a middlegrade novel written by Simon James Green. Published by Scholastic UK (2023) and working closely with the incredible designer Sarah Baldwin. Sarah briefed 3 options for the concept but this was by far our favourite as the connection and then the subsequent loss is so instantly clear it hits you in the stomach.
  • How were your illustrations used?
My illustrations work alongside the designer's typography to make this book cover and help convey the themes of the book: Friendship, loss and laughter.
  • What materials and techniques did you use?
I hand draw all my illustrations initially, then finish them using digital drawing software on an iPad and Apple Pencil.
