Why did you make this work:
Swiss online mag Republik asked me to illustrate something for their yearly christmas book-recomendations. The brief was simply just "Christmas and Books". I wanted to draw a little booklub of christmas decorations, hanging in the tree and having a cozy time reading a book together.

What materials and techniques did you use?:
Drawn with pencil, scanned and colored digitally.

Julia Sophie Plath is a freelance Illustrator based in Hamburg, Germany. She finished her masters degree in illustration in 2022, but has already been working in editorial and bookillustration since 2019. Her art is known for its surreal style and dark and melancholic themes, often centering philosophical and psychological themes.
