Why did you make this work:
I was commissioned to make an illustration for a special edition of the young adult novel 'Among the Beasts and Briars' written by Ashley Poston. The image had to show the main characters of the book, and an enchanted wood, which was a perfect fit for me - forests are some of my absolute favorite things to draw.

How was the illustration used:
The illustration is designed as a reverse dust jacket for the book.

How did you make this work:
I started out with a digital sketch, drawn in Procreate. Then the sketch was printed out, and the lines were inked with fineliners on a light box. At last, the illustration was scanned into Photoshop where the linework was adjusted, and the colors were added.

Biography:
Cathrin is an illustrator from Denmark. She attended the Animation Workshop where she studied comics and illustration, and in 2017 she earned a BA in Graphic Storytelling. She enjoys exploring patterns and textures, using both traditional and digital media, and her work is very often highly detailed, inspired by nature, folklore and magical universes. She lives and works in Copenhagen, Denmark.
