ProfessionalWhy did you make this work:
I was commissioned to illustrate a 'search and find' book about a little girl's adventure through the forest. To balance any scary undertones, I used bright colours that aren't usually part of a natural palette. Partly inspired by the picture books and designs of my youth (1975) without wanting it to be too retro -- this book was printed on matte paper to counter the blasting colours.
What materials and techniques did you use?:
All imagery was created digitally in Adobe Photoshop with a limited palette, using Kyle Webster brushes and adding some textural elements on top.
How were your illustrations used: These illustrations were used for 'Is that a robber in the woods?’, a picture book written by Levine van Teunenbroek and published by Van Goor in The Netherlands. We focus on a girl whose curiosity wins over her fear. Written for kindergarten age kids, this book covers themes like: repetition, counting, searching and finding.
