MEET THE JURY
WIA Judges are experts in their sectors, chosen to represent a global view on illustration. There are three judges in each category who make their selection to inform the Longlist, Shortlist, Highly Commended and Category Winners.
About the jury
The judges are independent in their selection process. In each of the ten categories we have three judges who make their selections to form the Longlist, Shortlist, Highly Commended and Category Winners. We aim to have judges from different world regions in each category.
They are given a set of instructions what to look out for, such as application of technique, how well the idea or message behind the project has been realised and whether a project explores illustration as an artform. They are also given target numbers to chose so that there is a representation of entries reflected on the longlist.
To make it to the longlist, a project usually requires two judges to like it. The shortlist represents the favourites of the jury, which are all eligible to win an award.
We are very grateful for the time and expertise the jury offers out of their busy schedules.
About THE
AWARDS
The World Illustration Awards is a global celebration of illustration.
The Association of Illustrators has run a juried illustration competition since 1976. The latest incarnation, the World Illustration Awards in partnership with the Directory of Illustration, has been going strong and growing since 2015.
WIA focuses on supporting and celebrating creativity internationally, by connecting illustrators with their peers and the global illustration industry.
The Awards are split into two groups: New Talent and Professional. All work, commissioned or self-initiated, is accepted across the ten categories as long as it has been created within the past year before the Call for Entries closes.
