- Why did you create this work?
This project is a 40-page children’s book illustrated and written by me. With a warm, nostalgic tone, this children’s book illustrates anecdotes on my family dining table, what it means to my Chinese family, and how these events brought me and my mother a deeper connection. It is a personal project created out of my interest in children's book illustration. - How were your illustrations used?

This project was created digitally by Procreate and Photoshop. The project explores ways of digitally recreating traditional medium textures (specifically ink, colored pencil, charcoal, crayon, pastel, and gouache) . - Was this project commissioned?

Wenxuan He (Wen) , is an illustrator currently based in Guangzhou, China. She graduated from Maryland Institute College of Art, with a BFA in illustration. Her works often features elements of the East Asian culture she grew up in. She loves to use either mellow or vibrant colors, and she is passionate in illustrating children's books, with themes of people, animals, folklore, and nature. - Where are you currently based?
