Owen Davey
Can I Come Too?

A book about siblings

Children's Publishing

Commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
I was directly inspired by watching how my kids play together and finding a fresh perspective on my own childhood. As the youngest sibling of 3 brothers, I know all too well that feeling of being overlooked because of your age. I also know how much a younger sibling can ruin your carefully laid plans through no fault of their own. I wanted to explore that relationship with this book.

What materials and techniques did you use?:
I use a combination of pencil and paper and Adobe Express on an iPad for sketching. Final artworks are created with Adobe Illustrator to help build shapes and Adobe Photoshop for final colouring and artwork. Very subtle textures were added digitally using brushes and the occasional scanned image.

How were your illustrations used:
The artworks are used throughout this 32 page picture book about sibling relationships.
