she/her - Why did you create this work?
Capturing the essence of New York and its people, my project "nowhere, now here" exaggerates the dramatic lives of New Yorkers. I aim to convey a vivid sense of "this is New York," resonating with both residents and those unfamiliar with the city. Through depicting the scenes I observe unfolding in New York, the collection serves as a brief reflection of my life in this city. - How were your illustrations used?
The purpose of this series of illustrations is to depict New York City through the eyes of an outsider, along with the cohesive narrative I envision. Amidst its rich and overwhelming daily life, everyone has their own stories, whether joyful or sorrowful, and I hope these illustrations can bring them together in this city, inspiring more imagination and resonance among viewers. - What materials and techniques did you use?
My medium is digital art, and I use Photoshop. In the initial stages of composition, I go out to capture real scenes of New York for reference and source. I observe interesting people and events in the city.These images serve as the cornerstone of my project, offering a firsthand glimpse into the vibrant tapestry of life in New York, aiding me in determining composition and colors. - Was this project commissioned?
