Public Transport Stories

Exploration

Un-commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
Train rides are character builders in Eastern Europe. Whether it’s a grumpy grandpa reminiscing out loud about the "glory" of communist days, or a ticket inspector starting a fight because someone’s card expired ten minutes ago, you can never have a boring ride. Taking two different trains to school every morning for years, this illustration is a humorous tribute and interpretation of my childhood

What materials and techniques did you use?:
Digital illustration, digital tablet with a pen, created in Procreate

How were your illustrations used:
Open call for artists for an exhibition called The Sofianer.
Brief: The project aims to celebrate our love for Sofia, to show its bizarre, funny or absurd sides, to give a poetic or unexpected look at the present day, to reveal our dreams for the future and to initiate a public debate about what city we (want to) live in.
