Why did you make this work:
it was part of a personal project about illustrating covers for books about Japan. Books by Pico Iyer, Donald Richie who have been long time observers of Japan and its culture. Yoshifumi Miyazaki has written about the restorative / rejuvinative power of nature. 'shinrin yoku ' is japanese term meaning to take your legs for a walk in the woods.

What materials and techniques did you use?:
i used procreate to illustrate and photoshop to create the book cover.

How were your illustrations used:
If endorphins reduce the perception of pain, then 'outdoorphins' reduce levels of cortisol in the blood and boost the immune system. this illustration was used as a part of three illustrations illustrating the importance of misogi or water cleansing , shinrin-yoku or forest bathing and outdoorphins.

Biography:
Nandita is a reader, walker and an anthropoet. She has worked as a farmer, designer, illustrator, architect, anthropologist, waiter, librarian, mason, and found they are very much alike. Through her work and her writing she attempts to explore the infraordinary of everyday life and writes about the idiogenic nature of cities. she is an architect and anthropologist who illustrates by accident.
