Murls
A Polluted Definition

The future changing of linguistics due to the environmental pollution on the lives of animals.

Exploration

Un-commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
Creating the series of 5 illustrations is an exploration of expressing my feelings and ideas through art, focusing on the global issue of pollution. I aim to raise awareness about the environmental degradation caused by our throwaway society. By redefining common words to illustrate the pollution's impact on animals, I hope to evoke awareness & spark conversation about the urgent need for change.

What materials and techniques did you use?:
This work was created with both digital and analogue techniques. The illustrations of 'the animals stuck in traces of pollution' are digitally made in Procreate and with exactly those traces of waste I made analogue textures (traces) in the background. With paint and various liquids I literally stamped a rubber tire, broken cardboard, crumpled plastic, selfmade imitation crude oil & sticky stuff.

How were your illustrations used:
The work is not commissioned, but if it had been it could perhaps have fit as an editorial illustration or awareness campaign. But I thought, my research into style & the use of different tools fit the category 'exploration' best.
