  • Why did you create this work?
I was selected to be one of the 151 illustrators to illustrate important events that took place between 1873 and 2023 in Budapest. THE BUDAPESTER documents the history of Budapest since the "birth" of the city. I was asked to illustrate year 2015, which was the year of the migration crisis, in the form of a magazine cover.
  • How were your illustrations used?
This illustration was used in THE BUDAPESTER, published for the celebration of the 150th birthday of Budapest; the 150th anniversary of the unification of Pest, Buda and Óbuda. To commemorate this milestone, the city has also organized a birthday exhibition where the illustrations for each year could be viewed in large formats.
  • What materials and techniques did you use?
I used mixed media (charcoal, acrylic paint, pencils, ink, watercolor, newspaper cutouts, and pastels) on paper and collaged them together (using analog and digital collage).
  • Was this project commissioned?
