- Why did you create this work?
For my master thesis I created the website „Nicht so helle“ - translated „Not so bright“. This interactive infographic on the topic of light pollution sheds light on the negative effects of artificial light on nature and shows why protecting dark skies is necessary to preserve biodiversity. You can visit „Not so bright“ on your pc or laptop at www.nichtsohelle.de. - How were your illustrations used?
The website is a fully illustrated scrollytelling experience. With this interactive infographic you can learn more about the topic of light pollution and its influence on birds, insects and bats in a playful way, by hovering with the mouse over text or illustrative elements. I conceptualized a responsive website, but due to the limits of the thesis I only implemented it for PC/Laptop. - What materials and techniques did you use?
First I made a storyboard and website construction with my sketchbook and an analogue storyboard. Then I built a website with the sketches using the program Tumult Hype. Little by little, the sketched elements were painted using ProCreate. - Was this project commissioned?
