"French Words"-a book about escape from war

Children's Publishing

Un-commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
"French Words" is Alice's amazing story of her escape from war and her new life in France. The book combines artistic and linguistic elements.
The main plot tells the story of how the protagonist escapes from a conflict zone, becomes a refugee, leaves her roots and starts a new life in France.

What materials and techniques did you use?:
I painted in procreate. To give the impression of a quick drawing from nature, I used brushes with the texture of canvas, gouache and watercolor, and pen. For a sense of integrity, I limited the palette.

How were your illustrations used:
I came up with this graphic novel to help myself in immigration. Step by step, I lived what happened and started to explore a new reality. It helps me a lot to learn about the experiences of other people who have lost their homeland. I feel that I am not alone. Everything becomes clearer. I hope my book will also help someone who has to start over.
