This is Me

Why did you make this work:
I made this self portrait for an exhibition entitled ‘Being Here’. I started by drawing hundreds of small faces. The repetition helped me to become more familiar with each different line: the curve of chin, the arch of brow, the decline of lip. Used to creating work at A5, this was a huge development for me, with the work measuring approximately 1m squared.

What materials and techniques did you use?:
This is a work on paper, using coloured pencil, wax pastel, house paint and gouache.

How were your illustrations used:
The work was first displayed in a group exhibition at SpudWorks, a Gallery in the New Forest. It was also selected for the Smart Artist Hub's SELF PORTRAIT virtual Exhibition. It has been used in my portfolio, on my website, and instagram.
