Jee Kim
GrownUp (Animated Short)

Animation

Un-commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
This 2D animated short is about a peculiarly precocious boy whose perfectly well-adjusted life comes to a halt when his long lost father returns to make amends.

What materials and techniques did you use?:
For the character animation, everything was animated frame by frame on ToonBoom. All the backgrounds were painted in Photoshop. The flashback sequence in the middle was printed on riso and scanned back in to create a riso animation. Everything was finally composited in AfterEffects.

How were your illustrations used:
As a one-man production, I illustrated/animated everything from the characters to the backgrounds.
