she/her - Why did you create this work?
Houseparty allowed me to combine both of my practices: watch assembly and Illustration. The design originates from an edition of screenprints I first developed during the pandemic, which explored isolation and the longing for human interaction. Now, ‘House Party’ captures a moment. It is a relatable scene, that brings us all back to our memories and experiences. - How were your illustrations used?
Houseparty was a limited 200-piece run of automatic mechanical watches, which sold out on its online sale. It took my usual static work and brought it to life by immortalising it in a time piece. The music notes - showing us the minutes - fly through from speaker to speaker as the hours sparkle in the reflections of the disco ball.
- What materials and techniques did you use?
The design was developed using Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop and Procreate. The physical, sold out 200 pieces of the watch were then pad-printed and hand-assembled by the Mr Jones Watches team - of which I am a part of. As an Assembly Technician myself, I assembled a number of the limited edition run of my own design. - Was this project commissioned?
