Amy Tibbles
Untie The Knot

Animation

Commissioned | Professional

Why did you make this work:
The aim of this animation is to highlight and spread awareness of the complex connection between climate change and the prevalence of child marriage. My brief was to bring to life a poem, in order to engage people in an issue that feels far from home. I designed the film to feel like a story of two halves, there is a clear turning point in the middle in order to leave the viewer feeling hopeful.

What materials and techniques did you use?:
Composed of cel animation from Animate and After Effects, this 2D animation was drawn in Photoshop to give it a hand rendered, textured feel, then composed in After Effects to fully animate each scene and build the film as a whole.

How were your illustrations used:
The animation and illustrated stills from the film were used across the whole digital campaign for International Day of the Girl 2023, by Evoca Foundation in partnership with Equality Now. Used over both the charities' websites and social media.
