Pang is shortlisted for the project Spring Festival Travel Rush in the WIA2021 Professional Editorial Category sponsored by Procreate! Find out more about this illustrator and their shortlisted project:

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?

I like to express the environment, with the state of the person, and this set of works did it.

What materials did you use?

This series was done with IPAD. I love the thin & light effect of the Chinese ink painting, and the rough texture of the crayons.

Varying shades of ink can express the Stereoscopic effect, and the crayon texture adds realism to the figures.

The combination of the two enables me to achieve the demeanour for these figures: they are returning home from a dusty journey, tired but delighted.

How long did it take?

It took about one week, from sketches to colour.

Why did you choose to enter this work?

This group of works was completed around the Spring Festival. For Chinese people, the travel to home is very meaningful. Everyone’s face is full of concern for family.

What are your plans for the future?

To try to make picture books for children or adults.

If you could work for/with anyone who would it be?

I like to work with a partner who is imaginative and aesthetic.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?

keep drawing, you ‘ll find more than you can imagine.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
