2D Animation | When a series of images drawn in a flat, two-dimensional space are placed in a sequence to create the illusion of movement e.g. The Princess and The Frog (2009). |
3D Animation | A digital animation technique that involves moving images in a three-dimensional space e.g. Frozen (2013). |
Animator | A person who animates. |
Animation Director | The person in charge of all animation during production. They are responsible for the creative vision and will have input throughout. |
Animatic | A series of images played in sequence, often with a soundtrack. These will usually be rough drawings that give you a sense of the timing and movement that will be in the final film. Essentially an animated storyboard. |
Aspect Ratio | The ratio of width to height of the final image, film or screen. |
