Why did you choose to enter this work?
This is a series of illustrations that explore the cultural heritage of cities. This place is to be demolished in 2023. To preserve its legacy, I created the illustrations.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
Reminds me of the place in the painting, with many young, happy times of life.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
My work is recognised and more people see it.
Where do you usually work?
I have a studio in China, in addition to my MA studies at the Cambridge School of Art in the UK, where most of my work is done in student accommodation.
How long did it take to complete your project?
About 6 months
What is your dream commission?
Become a good illustrator and author of picture books
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
The city and its culture, its people, its architecture, its life
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Having fun is the most important thing
What are your plans for the future?
MA graduate from Cambridge School of Art and producing more illustrations.
