  • Why did you create this work?
Commuting during winter months, I often find myself dissociating from the environment; my body runs on autopilot, my mind oscillating between thoughts of the cold and fantasies of cozy home, or just a cup of hot drink. Knowing that someone is waiting at home, or having someone to walk with, is such a blessing in our lives. I want to express that feeling in this short story.
  • How were your illustrations used?
The story is part of a comic and animation series I've created about a young bear navigating modern life with friends.
  • What materials and techniques did you use?
I used volumetric pixels (tiny cubes) as brush to build the scenes in 3D. The architecture of the buildings was inspired by the Den Da coffee shop by Ksoul Studio, the Nakagin Capsule Tower, and the advertisement boards and white-tiled buildings I see in Osaka. My aim was to evoke a sense of nostalgia for modern architecture, overshadowed by the gleaming, contemporary buildings in the background.
