Preferred Pronoun?
She/her

Why did you choose to enter this work?
Wolf in the City is my first picture book and it holds a special place in my heart, I learnt so much from this project. I’m excited to show Wolf’s physical and emotional journey through the city.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
I loved exploring the theme of belonging through the character of Wolf. Finding ways to portray Wolf’s search for belonging in the illustrations in a meaningful and playful way was challenging and fun

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
It’s encouraging and a huge honour to be shortlisted with so many fantastic illustrators. I’m so excited about Wolf reaching a wider audience.

Where do you usually work?
I work from a studio at home in Deal on the Kent coast, where I paint and draw. When I’m stuck on a story or illustration I go out drawing on the beach or in a cafe.

What is your dream commission?
I’m working on a graphic novel idea, as well as a non-fiction idea, which I’d love to get commissioned. I’d also like to illustrate a classic children’s story.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
I’m passionate about observational drawing and love being out and about with my sketchbook, especially drawing people and seagulls on the beach.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Keep practicing and experimenting with drawing and image making. Also I’m a big fan of drawing from life.

What are your plans for the future?
At the moment I’m working on picture books that will be published in 2025 and 2026. I’m also developing other story ideas I’d love to send to agents and publishers.
