Preferred Pronoun?
she/her
Why did you choose to enter this work?
The project was exhibited as part of the illustration show Lullabies in Lockdown, shown at Sunny Bank Mills in Leeds during October 2022. The show received great resonance.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
The illustrations deal with my experience of becoming a mother during the first Covid lockdowns, so this project is deeply personal and self-reflective. I loved creating something about me and my son.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
Being in the company of so many great illustrators from around the world.
Where do you usually work?
I work in a shared studio in central Berlin.
How long did it take to complete your project?
I worked on the project during the summer of 2022, finishing the last illustration on our family holidays in the Scottish highlands. I work as a lecturer too, so it was a great break away from work.
What is your dream commission?
I would like to use my commissioned work as an opportunity to work with and contribute to organisations who are dedicated to solutions for a more sustainable future.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Anything involving the human figure.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Authenticity and passion are more important than following trends.
