Why did you choose to enter this work?
I felt it was one of the stronger pieces that I had made from that period.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
I’d been fairly obsessed with yearbook and family portraits for some while, so I was thrilled to finally bring it into my work.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
It’s great to have the opportunity to be listed amongst some incredible people whom I respect and admire and also having the chance for my work to be seen my so many new people.
Where do you usually work?
All my best work is usually done with a cup of tea whilst still in bed.
How long did it take to complete your project?
20 hours 33 minutes, 13412 strokes
What is your dream commission?
Criterion Collection!!!! Anything to do with cinema makes me happy.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Noses.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Never compare or judge your work against others, have faith in your own process and always try to move forwards.
What are your plans for the future?
Hopefully get a cat and go to Disneyland.
