Preferred Pronoun?
She / Her

Why did you choose to enter this work?
I created the work in a bit of a bubble, and then didn't really know what to do with it. I wanted to show it but not just in an insta/likes kinda way.. I had a bit of a feeling about it, I guess.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
I've had some really touching messages from people about it... and I love the colour palette. I also kinda love that I showed nobody -and now it's out there on the internet.. a brave-whuups-leap!

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
How unexpected it is! It's a special buzzy feeling to draw something entirely for yourself and for strangers to see something in it.

Where do you usually work?
I just left my studio & am squished at home making a new spot feel "right". This means sticking lots of things on the wall & lightly dusting the desk with pens, paints, paper, flowers & ipad wires.

How long did it take to complete your project?
It was a circular process of writing, blocking, rewriting, drawing. It took about 2 weeks in all, but since it was a personal project I took my sweet sweet time thinking about it.

What is your dream commission?
Books, Covers & TV Animation (adults & kids) - but I'd love to do Brand Collaboration & Homewares. Things that push me to get new skills & connect with people in everyday life are the very very best.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Blobby abstract things & words.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Experiment endlessly. Then pop things away and treat yourself to looking later. My grandma was a printmaker and watching her play without judgement was the most valuable creative lesson of my life.

What are your plans for the future?
I have a card range on the horizon, and i'll be pootling on developing a kids show I've co-created. I'd also love to explore turning this project into a graphic novel or illustrated book for adults.
