Why did you choose to enter this work?
As a gay man, Pride Month is a very important time for me. I often collaborate with brands to create something that gives back to the community, and this is one of my favorite projects to date.
What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
The amount of freedom I was given to create this packaging was amazing. For this occasion, it’s specially important for brands to let their queer creators express their vision through their art.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
It’s amazing to have my work recognized by de WIA among so many entries. I’m very excited about the opportunities that may arise from being part of it.
Where do you usually work?
I usually work from home on a laptop. I’v built a cozy routine so I can spend time with my dog and do my chores at my own pace. However I often go to cafes and places like that to boost my creativity.
How long did it take to complete your project?
It took me around 3 weeks to finish this piece. Fortunately the client loved the concept for this packaging, so we didn’t need a lot of comings and goes to reach the final result.
What is your dream commission?
I would love to either create something for an artist I really admire, such as the Pet Shop Boys, or collaborate with big fashion brands like Nike and Comme Des Garçons.
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
Flowers and fun-looking little guys.
What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Try to incorporate whatever fascinates and interests you in the world into your illustrations, whether it's through what you draw or how you draw things.
What are your plans for the future?
I plan on connecting with other creatives around the world, while expanding my illustrations into other fields such as sculpture, painting and photography.
