She - Why did you create this work?
I created this artwork to celebrate the wisdom of youth and be part of Youthism movement, that fights discrimination against children. This piece of craftsart was based on the fact, that the very first children's book clubs were organized and run by adults where youth voice was not considered.
I also wanted to promote traditional craft art that is sustainable, affordable and easy. - How were your illustrations used?
This 3D papier mache illustration was displayed at Waterstones bookstore as a window display and was there for three weeks in 2023 summer. My installation later was moved from Waterstones to one of the local primary schools with hearing aid students and now it is displayed at their school library. - What materials and techniques did you use?
This is hand made 3D papier mache sculpture. The base of the sculpture is made of recycled paper and foil. Smaller sculptures are painted in acrylic, the big sculpture is decorated with pages from children's books, and the jacket is made of used tea bags. For me was very important to incorporate the paper craft into this piece because it was about paper books. - Was this project commissioned?
