Why did you choose to enter this work?
I created this series of covers based on my favorite books, using my favorite expressing styles and experimenting with mixed media. It was one of my most satisfying pieces of work last year.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
Convey the atmosphere without complicated and detailed painting. I always want to express my ideas simply but accurately, and I especially like to use abstract and generalized shapes and patterns.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
This is the first time I have been shortlisted for an illustration award and it was a very exciting surprise. As a recent illustration graduate, I feel recognized and inspired.

Where do you usually work?
I usually work on my iPad in my apartment. It's very portable, so if I want to travel, I can take it anywhere. But my home is the most comfortable and relaxing place to paint.

How long did it take to complete your project?
It’s an assignment for one of my classes called paper products, and it took me nearly 6 weeks to complete this project.

What is your dream commission?
I love illustration works with a little design thing, such as packaging, posters, postcard, greeting cards, book covers, etc.. I’m also interested in creating short animation.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
I like to draw simple stick figures. Sometimes I’d like to replace their heads with different objects like shells, stones, or mirrors. I can draw some silly or funny stories with them.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Do what you're good at, do what you love.

What are your plans for the future?
I plan to stay in the US for a while. I want to find a job related to illustration first. I hope to be able to support myself and create freely!
