Preferred Pronoun?
She

Why did you choose to enter this work?
The process of making the book was a breakthrough for me. I worked in collage then printed in Risograph using two colours which overlay to make the palette.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
I really like the element of farce in the book. I enjoyed creating the world of the story and the cast of characters who are overwhelmed by the chaos in their village.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
It is so exciting to share my work with a wider audience and be shortlisted with so many brilliant illustrators.

Where do you usually work?
My desk at home is full of materials and bits of paper. It gets messy very quickly but I always find that tidying it up helps spark new ideas.

How long did it take to complete your project?
I made these images on my MA. I worked out how I could make the project in Riso towards the end of my module and spent five weeks making these spreads.

What is your dream commission?
I’d love to work with a publisher to make books and share my stories. I love design and it would be amazing to make a poster for Transport for London.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
I really love drawing people and the sea in my sketchbook. Beaches are the best places for observational drawing.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
Play. Most of my ideas come from playing with shape or colour and experimenting with materials.

What are your plans for the future?
I am working on the final module of my MA and am excited to keep experimenting and developing as an artist. I graduate in 2025.
