Why did you choose to enter this work?
A varied commission - to paint motifs for theatre groups, orchestras and performances invited by the Tonhalle Wil - with a great end product: a tear-off pad and posters that can be seen in Wil.

What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
The Tonhalle Wil commissioned me to paint motifs for posters and the programme booklet for three years. This collaboration is now coming to an end with this highlight of being shortlisted for the WIA.

What excites you most about being shortlisted?
I've submitted a project for the WIA several times, but none have ever been selected. And this time the project was shortlisted straight away.

Where do you usually work?
I paint in different places around the world. This project was created in Cairo. I always have my watercolour box, paper, brushes and a travel scanner with me so that I can scan the works.

How long did it take to complete your project?
I worked on it for about three months, but painted other projects at the same time.

What is your dream commission?
As long as the collaboration with the client is uncomplicated, the client represents great values, gives me artistic freedom and the result delights and touches people, it's a dream commissions.

What’s your favourite thing to draw?
I love painting fiction because it's fun to delve into the infinity of creativity.

What is your best tip for other illustrators?
As artists, we experience failures and rejection our artist journey. Don't pay too much attention to them, but pay all the more attention to your creativity and what makes you happy. Always.

What are your plans for the future?
I don't make plans because things always turn out differently than I plan anyway :)
