What’s your favourite thing about your shortlisted project?
The fact that I dared using so much colour! This project has helped me become much bolder with my use of colour and negative space.
What excites you most about being shortlisted?
Just the amazing fact that people are going to see what I made :)
Where do you usually work?
For this project I spent some time in the print room at Cambridge School of Arts (Anglia Ruskin University). Otherwise I work in my tiny studio space in my living room! It's basically just a desk.
How long did it take to complete your project?
The whole book project the images are from - which includes poems and more illustrations and which was not entered in the competition in its entirey - took me 8 weeks.
What is your dream commission?
I love challenges and I love to learn, so anything that requires me to develop new skills :)
What’s your favourite thing to draw?
An interesting relationship between figures and what surrounds them. It's an infinite source of inspiration for me!
What are your plans for the future?
I am planning on developing ideas for picturebooks and hopefully get them published! I am currently working as a colorist on a graphic novel and I would also love to do more of that!
