Why did you create this work? I wanted to highlight the natural, cultural, and nostalgic elements from this book.
Set in post-war Indonesia (1940s to 1960s), Teto and Atiek were childhood friends who gradually find themselves on the opposite sides of the country's political spectrum. Throughout, their physical and spiritual struggles are always beautifully weaved with symbolisms from nature.
How were your illustrations used? As book cover. With Teto in the front, Atik in the back, and the house with their memories of the past as the book spine. This layout symbolizes Teto and Atik's bond despite carrying on with different path of life.
What materials and techniques did you use? Procreate, Adobe Illustrator
Biography Formerly an architecture student, Audy is an illustrator and graphic designer based in Indonesia, currently building focus on the publishing industry. Her personal works often depict slice of daily life with a hint of old-school feel; closely influenced by nature, culture, and nostalgia.
