Rhi Sanderson
Rhi Sanderson is a Welsh children’s book illustrator based in Leeds, distinguished for her whimsical style, drawn digitally on an iPad. Growing up on the Isle of Anglesey, Rhi was immersed in Welsh folklore and mythology, which inspires much of her work today.
Her published work includes The King with Dirty Feet (Otter-Barry Books, 2021/2018) and Ada Bell the Curious Explorer (One Third Stories, 2019) as illustrator, and her debut as both author and illustrator in Ordinary Gwen (Flying Eye Books, forthcoming TBC).
Rhi has a particular passion for capturing childlike wonder and creating meaningful work through empathy and the unique relationship between images and text, especially in picture books and comics. Central to her work are themes of nature and the environment, animal companionship, folklore, identity, and kindness.
