I am a freelance illustrator for Books Beyond Words, who produce picture-led books for people with learning disabilities. The books help deal with some of life’s issues, and are designed for people who find pictures easier to read than words. I provided two illustrations for the reprint of the ‘Going into Hospital’ title, and I co-authored and illustrated ‘A Day at the Beach’ with readers of the books. I have recently completed ‘Going To Church’, dealing with a young man’s desire to access a spiritual and faith dimension in his life. And am currently working on a title focussing on young people with learning disabilities leaving education and moving into the workplace. I have also illustrated for Electric Sheep, an online film magazine. My portfolio work is characterised by observation, and sometimes a gentle humour, showing glimpsed moments of people and places – using clear lines and strong flat colours. I enjoy capturing bird life, and exploring the decorative and natural forms of flowers and plants.
